Coniunctio

University of Toronto thesis exhibition

"Coniunctio" is a term used in Jungian Psychology to describe the union of opposites into the birth of new possibilities. It refers to the sacred marriage of two halves to make a whole. This is an ancient concept that manifests in natural form. The sexual energy of the world is revealed through the essential forms of the body infinitely embodied in nature. This series of paintings explores sexuality as an act of creation, through the alchemical process of coniunctio. We are “the victims and the instruments of cosmogonic love" (Carl Jung).'
